Michigan Attorney General – 2018

The filing deadline for Michigan Attorney General (AG) candidates is April 24, 2018. The primary election is August 7, 2018, while the general election will be November 6, 2018.

Candidates for attorney general will be selected at political party conventions that will be held after the August primary election in 2018.

The last day voters can register for August primary is July 9, 2018. The last day voters can register for the November general election is October 9, 2018.

Democratic Candidates

Pat Miles, Grand Rapids, former U.S. attorney for the Western District of Michigan

Dana Nessel, Ann Arbor, private practice attorney


Republican Candidates

Tom Leonard, Dewitt, assistant prosecutor in Genesee County, an assistant state attorney general, Speaker of Michigan House

Tonya Schuitmaker, Lawton, private practice attorney, Michigan state senator
